Gender Specialist and Medical Educator
Dr Helen Webberley is a UK-based Gender Specialist and Medical Educator, and the founder of GenderGP, the world's first dedicated gender healthcare service. With over a decade of clinical expertise in gender identity and transgender healthcare, she is a GP with postgraduate qualifications in gender medicine, a full member of WPATH since 2015, and one of the UK's most prominent advocates for trans rights in healthcare and the law.
She provides expert guidance on gender identity, gender incongruence, and transgender healthcare, grounded in international clinical evidence and UK law. Her work covers puberty blockers, hormone therapy, trans rights under the Equality Act 2010, shared care with GPs, supporting trans young people, and the Cass Review.
Dr Helen Webberley qualified as a GP in the United Kingdom and holds the MBChB with Honours from the University of Birmingham, MRCGP, MFSRH, and postgraduate qualifications in gender medicine, psychosexual medicine, and community child health. She has been a full member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) since 2015.
She is the author of Being Believed, a memoir about her experience providing transgender healthcare and the professional and regulatory challenges she faced. She has spoken at international conferences, given evidence to parliamentary committees, and contributed to coverage in the BBC, The Times, The Guardian, and internationally.
